Tucson-based photovoltaics maker Solon Corp is testing ways to store energy derived from the sun.
The first phase of the project begins in August, when Solon and AzRISE plan to install compressed-air energy storage (CAES) system designed and constructed by UA faculty and students.
I have heard of the solution to store energy as compressed air and them have it run a generator to get the energy back. I love this low tech idea instead of using expensive and environmentally bad batteries. I hope they find a good way to use this technology, living in Arizona I have always felt we can get more out of the suns energy than anywhere else in the country.
